Planning continues in high gear for the 2017 AAPOR Conference. We’re excited to showcase the latest, cutting-edge research on survey and other data collection methods as well as insightful findings from public opinion researchers on pressing issues. An unprecedented number of sessions focus on the election and polling, ensuring the conference will stand at the forefront of scholarship and debate on the 2016 vote and the state of the union.

Be sure to make use of the enhanced AAPOR Conference App to select sessions! For attendees, the app provides the times and locations for all sessions, papers, posters, and events. You can search by authors or title, create a personalized schedule, browse abstracts, view maps, and get in touch with authors by email or on Twitter. The app is being built and sponsored by RTI International and will be available at the beginning of May, just in time to start planning your time at the conference. There will be Apple (iPhone/iPad) and Android versions that attendees can download from the app stores. Whether as your primary guide to the conference or a supplement to the paper program, the app will be a handy tool to get you through a busy and exciting time in New Orleans!

In preparation for our time in the Big Easy, the Conference Support Committee has created several social and networking opportunities that will keep you jazzing from morning until night. Bring a friend, bring your beads, bring your walking shoes, and join the “crewe” for fun.  As those in NOLA say, “Laissez les bon temps rouler” (Let the Good Times Roll). Below are just a few of our special events:
  • Kick Off Meeting for Docents and Mentees (Thursday, May 18)
  • Book Sale: Hottest books up for sale (Thursday, May 18 - Saturday, May 20)
  • Meet the Author and Meet the Editors: Come meet our famous authors and editors from our flagship journals (Saturday, May 20)
  • Speed Networking: Speed around the tables to meet and talk with colleagues from prominent research-based organizations (Friday, May 19 – Saturday, May 20)
  • Fun Walk & Run: Take a walk or run alongside the Mississippi river (Saturday, May 20 in lobby @ 7AM )
