Membership Active at 2015 Annual Conference; Annual Member Survey Complete

by Kristen Olson, Membership and Chapter Relations Committee Chair
The Membership and Chapter Relations Committee (MCR) was glad to see so many AAPOR members — new and old — at the AAPOR conference.

Throughout the conference, MCR members and Executive Committee members connected with conference attendees at the AAPOR Membership Booth. We had a number of well-received giveaways — including AAPOR water bottles, perfect for the Florida sun! First-time attendees could collect stickers for their passports by talking with a variety of AAPOR members, allowing them an opportunity to win a $100 Amazon gift card.
SAPOR boothThere was an excellent turnout at the All Chapter and New Member Reception, the kickoff for The Meeting Place-themed dinner. Each of AAPOR’s seven regional chapters — DC-AAPOR, MAPOR, PANJAAPOR, PAPOR, NEAAPOR, NYAAPOR, and SAPOR — raffled off great region-themed prizes. Even WAPOR got in on the action with a dedicated table. Are you a member of your local chapter? If not, learn more about the chapters here!

The Student and Early Career Engagement Subcommittee hosted two events at the conference: a pre-conference lunch on Thursday and a Friday night meet-and-greet dinner. The events were well attended by both students and early career professionals, due to the more inclusive nature of the activities this year and the help of AAPOR staff who publicized the events before the conference. The subcommittee also gathered ideas during the conference from students and early career folks to better understand how AAPOR can help those new to the field. The Student and Early Career Engagement Subcommittee would love to hear your ideas!

You should have received the annual AAPOR survey via email. There is a lot going on in our organization right now, and we value your thoughts. We hope you took the time to respond, whether or not you attended the Florida conference. We’ll let you know results from the survey in future newsletters!
