An important reminder that Charter Membership status is only available to organizations accepted for membership by October 1, 2015. In order to be certain to meet this date, we strongly encourage those organizations interested in becoming Charter Members to submit their complete applications by July 31, as we are expecting to be very busy with application reviews between then and October 1. As of early July, the Transparency Initiative has admitted 46 Charter Members, and we continue to review and process new applications. Thanks to all of the organizations that have taken the time to express interest in joining the TI.

Also, we will begin sharing testimonies from members of the Transparency Initiative regarding their experiences with the program. This month, Ken Fernandez, Director of the Elon University Poll, and a TI Charter Member since January 14, 2015, shares the following thoughts:

“The Elon University Poll joined the AAPOR Transparency Initiative because we agree with the fundamental principles of providing clear and specific information about our methodology. Conducting survey research requires numerous decisions and choices to be made, and this initiative will help organizations provide the public with full information on how survey data are collected. The Transparency Initiative has provided clear guidelines for scholars and practitioners to use when presenting their results. We are honored to be a charter member of this initiative.”
