Autumn has always brought with it a sense of excitement and anticipation, and this year is no different at AAPOR.
by Darby Steiger, AAPOR Conference Chair
It’s October, and you know what that means…pumpkins, apples, hayrides…and AAPOR abstract submissions!! AAPOR is in full swing accepting abstracts for the 2022 Annual AAPOR Conference. We are seeking abstracts for a variety of submission types - papers, methodological briefs, posters, panels, and professional development roundtables. Abstract submissions will be accepted through Friday, November 5, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. EST.

PANJAAPOR (the PA/NJ chapter of AAPOR) provides opportunities for Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and other regional public opinion researchers to come together, exchange ideas, network, and provide professional support to new members of our community.

by Emilia Peytcheva, Education Committee Chair
New this fall: AAPOR’s first off-conference-schedule short course! Introduction to Weighting by Rick Valliant took place on October 13, 2021, from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Eastern Time and offered an introduction to the steps involved in weighting probability samples, as well as methods proposed for weighting nonprobability samples.
by Tamara Terry, Inclusion and Equity Committee Chair

I am excited to announce that the AAPOR Inclusion and Equity Committee (IEC) has identified and appointed our first six subcommittee chairs. In line with the IEC charge, these roles shall support the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of programs that promote the inclusion of diverse AAPOR members and ensure that members of marginalized groups receive equitable opportunities, recognition, and support within the organization.

by Benjamin Schapiro and Holly Hagerty, AAPOR Welcoming Committee Co-Chairs
The AAPOR Welcoming Committee is here for all members and conference-goers who are students, early-career professionals, or folks who are newer to AAPOR. While we are currently hard at work thinking about the 2022 conference and how much we cannot wait to see all of you in person again, there is plenty to do right now.
by Jennifer Benz and Krista Jenkins, Transparency Initiative Coordinating Committee Co-Chairs
The Transparency Initiative Coordinating Committee (TICC) has been hard at work incorporating the updated Code of Professional Ethics and Practices adopted by AAPOR membership in April 2021. The revised code updated Section III: Standards for Disclosures. These standards guide the required elements that TI members are committed to disclosing as part of their membership.
