by Mollyann Brodie, President
Your AAPOR Executive Council just finished two days of in-person meetings where we tackled a wide range of topics including the various mentoring opportunities we currently provide and how we might enhance them in the future.
by David Dutwin, 2016 Conference Chair and Jen Dykema, Associate Conference Chair

We have all been very hard at work preparing for the 2016 Conference, and I must say, with every development and decision made, I get more and more excited about what we have in store for attendees!

by Joe Lenski, AAPOR Councilor at Large
On July 10, 2015 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released a new order regarding clarification of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) rules and regulations regarding autodialers and cell phones. The new interpretation of the rules have caused much concern among many AAPOR members who currently conduct telephone survey research.
The AAPOR Executive Council Call for Nominations is coming soon! Do you know someone whose expertise and values should be represented on the AAPOR Council?  Would you personally like to play a leadership role in AAPOR? Each year we ask the AAPOR community to nominate qualified candidates for service on AAPOR’s Executive Council. Council members represent the general membership and provide leadership and oversight for AAPOR’s policies, finances and activities.
by David Dutwin, Member, Future of Telephone Surveying AAPOR Task Force Member, and Telephone Outcomes Data Analysis Coordinator and Paul J. Lavrakas, Chair, Future of Telephone Surveying AAPOR Task Force
As you may know, the AAPOR Future of Telephone Surveying Task Force is hard at work preparing a draft of its report, which we hope will be released sometime next spring. The Nonresponse Subcommittee of the Task Force is in the process of gathering data to study trends within AAPOR response rate categories for landlines and cell RDD surveys in the USA. Although there were a number of studies in the early and mid-2000s that reported trends in nonresponse, there is a void in understanding movement (if any) in these trends in the past decade. And in particular, there is very little known about these trends for cell phone surveys.

by Kristen Olson and Anna Wiencrot, Membership and Chapter Relations Chairs
The Membership and Chapter Relations Committee has been hard at work, with seven subcommittees working to improve your AAPOR experience. One way that we see how AAPOR is doing is through the annual AAPOR Survey. A huge thank you to all who participated in the survey! Overall, we had 694 people full or partial completes (AAPOR RR2=29.8%).
AAPOR members enjoy many benefits! To help you make the most of your membership, we want to help you subscribe to AAPORnet. AAPORnet is AAPOR’s official listserv. AAPOR members pose questions, post items that others on the listserv might find useful, and inform others about opportunities of interest. As a student or early career professional, AAPORnet is a great resource for learning more about the field, finding out about new research that may apply to your own work, and finding answers to your questions.
